Which of these is your favorite?
Gap or Old Navy. Banana Republic is too expensive. My sister works at Gap, but since all three are owned by the same company she's filled in at both of the other stores. She said Gap employees are the most normal, Banana Republic is too serious, and Old Navy is run by idiots.
i worked at banana for 3 weeks in college and it was AWFUL! your sis is right about the people there!
Gap all the way. I can sometimes find something cute at Old Navy, but not often. I agree about everything posted about Banana Republic.
one of the managers there yelled at me because she said that i couldn't tell the difference between 'apple red and fire truck red' i could TOO!!
Wow, Liza, that is crazy! Not the the kind of place I would want to work or shop.
I have no particular fondness for any of them.
(But I think BabyGap has some cute little outfits -- not that I would ever aim to buy there; my boys wear hand-me-downs and consignment shop finds. With three kids under ten, it would too expensive to purchase new clothes all the time.)
nonny - i think buying expensive baby clothes is stupid... whenever i have kids i'm only going to get them stuff from wal-mart or target!
i have a neighbor who buys her little kids clothes from the most expensive shops! the baby's clothes are more expensive than mine sometimes!
Forth and Towne is the best Gap-owned store. BR is the one I shop at the most, though.
Expensive baby clothes confuse me. All they do is get "stuff" all over them, and then they are too small in 2 months...such a waste of money!
i buy expensive clothes for my 3 girls because they go right from one closet to the next. usually i shop gymboree sale rack during the "gymbucks" promo and then again during the gymbucks event. yesterday i got over $300 of clothes for $85 with my gymbucks. i find that if i buy a cheaper brand (target) they last a season (maybe) and that's it. they fade, gems come off, rip at the seams, etc. fine for seasonal t shirts or novelty items, but not everyday clothes. i don't put any clothes in the dryer and i wash them inside out, helps them last longer. of the choices above i like gap but they are SO expensive! if i catch a sale i can do okay there, but have found the only way to do that is have a friend that works there tip me off. other wise everything is picked over.
I like the Gap the best, although I shop at Old Navy the most because it's so cheap.
I can only afford the sale rack at Banana.
i refuse to pay retail $$'s at any of those stores b/c everything goes on sale 2 weeks later and you feel like i jerk.... and you know you'll never be responsible enough to go back and have then adjust the price!
I agree with you, val -- the clothing from discount stores (e.g. Walmart; target) does tend to fall-apart very quickly. Some of the more expensive brands can really hold up through the years (and through a few children).
But, for me, I simply cannot afford expensive brand-name clothes. Luckily, I don't need to, because I get the brand name stuff at a steep discount when I buy consignment finds -- and I get *tons* of hand-me down clothing from family and friends. Our church has a plethora of children, and those women are often looking to get rid of the extra clothing as soon as they can.
Our house is like the universal recipient of all boys clothing. (I have three boys.)
I can usually find good sales at Gap and there is a Gap outlet less than a mile from my house.
Val, I completely see why quality clothes make more sense for your family...three little girls right in a row. But I am 7 years older than my sister, so the handmedown thing didn't work so
well for us
I have loads and loads of Old Navy and Gap stuff in my wardrobe that I got for free cos my sis works at one of their 'offshore' offices, and i like their sizing and cutting. But I like Old navy.. the sweaters, shorts, and pants!!
I voted Gap but I went into their store not too long ago and nothing stood out to me.
Gap! They can have awesome sales, and a lot of the clothes are so classic you can wear them for years. Lately, though, some of their stuff has been just a little too trendy for nerd-esque me.

i go to GAP for comfy t's and summer shirts i don't feel bad getting rid of after one season!
